Oil Sunday next I lie Foxton Surf and Life Saving Club will give a demonstration on the Foxton Beach. The iC'lub now has two well trained patrols’which says much for the enthusiasm of tin* young men concerned when it is remembered that tin* Club was started only a short while ago when there was nearly a serious drowning fatality on the beach this summer. The Chib members are now equipped with new reels and costumes and look very smart and el'tieient when at practice. It is to he hoped the public will rallv around on Sunday and give them its encouragement in the line work they are carrying out. Band drill will he practised in the morning in Iron! ot the cottages a--11.30 o’clock and surf practice will be indulged in at 2.30 on the ocean beach.
SCCCKSSKUB EUCHRE PARTY. The attendance at ihe foxton Surf and Bile Saving Club's weekly euchre party held in the Town Hull supper-room on Tuesday evening was ilie largest of any similar functions held locally. As a result ill* the unexpected attendance the committee experienced a little difficulty in catering for so many players, but eventually sufficient accommodation was provided and iicresting play indulged in which resulted as follows: —Cents : Is! prize, Mr. F. Prentice; 2nd, Mr. 11. Ilirini. Bailies:'lst prize, Mrs. S. Wright; 2nd, Miss 1. Easton. The committee desires to apologise for the delay occasioned in commencing play on Tuesday ('veiling and assures patrons that ample provision will he made lor record attendances in the future.
