SINGLES CHAMPION

The M anawatu Centre singles championship played on the Manawatn greens on Saturday, resulted in a win for Simpson (Oroua) after having played a draw in the final with Pilcher (Northern). Detailed results are as follows:

First round: Pitcher (Northern) beat (Hover ( Dannevirke), 21—14; Wilkinson (Terrace End) beat liowe (Foxton), 27 —10; -Eckersley (Manawatu) beat Moore (Feilding), 20 —13; Morgan (Takaro) beat Barv (Pjilmerston North), 10 —l4.

Second round: Simpson (Oroua) beat Wtl'kinson (Terrace End), 22 —44; Ecikersley (Manawatu) beat Wliibley (Shannon), 22—11; Pilcher (Northern) heat Bull (Levin), 17 —13; Horne (Woodville) beat Morgan (Takaro), 18 —11. 'Semi-tinal: Pilcher beat Horne, 20 —17: Simpson beat Eekerslev. 27,-11.

In the liual Simpson v. Pilcher, the result was a draw, 10 all, and si a second game had to be played. Ibis resulted in a win for Simpson, 17—12.

DIXON CUP. •Saturday afternoon saw the Terrace End rink of howlers which has been so successful in retaining- the Dixon Cup this season, beat a strong Palmerston Niirth Club rink and constitute a new record, by holding the trophy against 11 challenges in the season. Terrace End scored on seven of the first 10 heads and led !)—5. At the Altli head, Terrace End was 14 —6 and (lie next seven heads saw Palmerston secure (0 points to Terrace End's four. MANAWATU CENTRE’S VISIT TO WELLINGTON.

All arrangements for the annual visit of the Manawatu Centre bowlers to Wellington on Wednesday are completed. It is anticipated that 00 players will make the, trip and games will be played in the morning at Lyall Bay and Lower Mutt. In the afternoon, the big test will take place on the Wellington greens.

One rink from Eoxton, consisting ot Messrs J. Keay, Walker, Christie and Thomson, will make the trip.
