FAREWELL TO MISS MINNIE

WALKER

A very enjoyable evening was spent at the Methodist parsonage, Robinson .Street, last evenig, when members of the Methodist Church gathered to bid farewell to Miss Minnie Walker, who leaves Foxton at an early date to take up a position with Yarex, Limited, Wellington.

At a suitable juncture Airs. W. E. Bullard, on behalf of Church members and adherents, spoke of. the devoted church life of Miss Walker, from her infancy as a pupil of the Sunday school, as a teacher in the Sunday school ,and as Communion steward and treasurer of the Ladies’ G-uild. Such a devoted worked, said Airs. Bullard, would l>e hard to replace, and Aliss Walker would ibe much missed from among them. In handing Miss Walker a •manicure set and clock from the Church and Ladies’ Guild, Mi's. Bullard wished the recipient God speed, health and happiness in her new sphere of life.

Miss Walker feelingly acknowledged the good wishes and gifts, and said how she would miss all the church associations she was leaving behind her. Mr. J. Chrystall and Airs. A. G. Huntley spoke of Aliss Walkers’ qualities as a church member and Sunday school worker.

Air. W. Trueman voiced an appreciation of Aliss Walker’s work from the citizens’ point of view. Her ability and pleasing disposition bad won for her a high place in the esteem of those associated with her in her work.

Air. AI. H. Walker expressed thanks to those present for their kindness and appreciation shown towards Miss Walker.

During the evening games and a competition were indulged in, the latter being won by Mrs. Young. The evening was brought to a close by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”

A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Shanks for placing the parsonage at the disposal of the gathering-
