FALSE DECLARATION.
•CONCERNING MARRIAGE OP A MINOR. Ashburton, Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court, Philip McLaughlin, of Hinds, was charged with having made a false document by signing the name of George Tait to consent to the marriage of a minor. George Tait, of Ashburton, was charged with abetting McLaughlin in the commission ol the offence. Evidence was given to the effect that in November, 1926 Tait, not wishing to visit Ashburton, asked McLaughlin to sign a document relating to the marriage of the former’s son. Both pleaded guilty and were committed for trial, being •released finder the Probation Act or. a personal security of £SO each.
