'('unstable V. Bell who is at present an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, is reported to lie 1 lurking- good progress towards recovery. The Prime Minister (Sir .Joseph Ward) has arranged to attend a special meeting of supporters of the l oiled party in Wellington on Friday next. .Mr. .Martin, local stationniaster, left to-day on his annual holiday "leave, which he will spend in the North. Mr. M. A. Hold!, of Wellington, will act as relieving stnlioinnaster during Mr. Marlin's alisenee. Air. F. Dorset, who has been an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital for some time was able to spend last week end at home. ITe is now progressing quite satisfactorily but it will be two weeks before be receives bis discharge from the institution. Mr. (!. A. Monk, chairman of the llorow'henua County Council, Ilorowhenua Power Board and Palmerston Hospital Board, has consented to address the local Lunch Club at an early dale. Mr. Monk is probably the most prominent public man on this coast and to his broad vision and activities must be attributed, in no small measure, the progress of the llorowhenua dis- ! riet. Dr. L. .1. Hunter, of Levin, has been appointed lion., physician to the Palmerston North Hospital. Tiie board, it will be remembered, was unable to till the position in Palmerston North. "It is a line thing,” slated the chairman (Mr. J. K. Ilornblow), “when an outside doctor and a busy one at that, offers bis services in this way." Dr. Hunter will visit the hospital twice each week, Tlie funeral of the late Mrs. (). ook was held on Sunday. A special car had to be requisitioned to tarry the wreaths, which were verv beautiful, to the cemetery, while a large number of people paid their last respects to deceased. Services at the home and graveside y.cie conducted by the Uev. Yeo, of Shannon. The pall bearers were Messrs A. Spcirs, (f. King (2), C. Ingram, H. Podmore and R. Band.
