SHIELD.
Yesterday afternoon two nnks from Shannon visited the local green for the purpose of trying conclusions with the holders of the Ainslie Shield. Owing to the dry spell now being experienced, the green was playing very fast, and this, combined With a light westerly breeze, made judgment very difficult. However, a very pleasant time was spent and the outcome was a win for the holders by the substantial ma rgin of 24 points. The details are as follow: Robinson, Newth, Christie, Mattar (s) 25, Aim, Hyde, Clayton, Roach (s) 20. Stevenson, Howe, Walker, Huntlev (s) 32, Grey, 11. Hook, Mason, Knowles (s) 13. The aggregates therefore were: —Poxton 57, Shannon 33. Xt is understood the next game ,£or the Shield will be against a rink from Palmerston North Club. On Saturday a visit will be made to Levin Club by Foxton bowlers. The following will be the rinks: McGill, Trueman, Warwick, Jno, 1 Ross (s). Robinson, Jas. Ross, Walton, • Walker (s). 1 J. Reay, J.
