SWIMMING.
At the Terrace End Club’s swimming carnival on Thursday evening the local champion, W. Harrison, was successful in retaining the Centre title for the 220 yards free style after swimming a great race and winning by .15 yards from Bade, of Pahiatua. Mr. A. D. Campbell, president of the Manawatu Centre, congratulated Harrison on his performance and congratulated theliFoxton swimmers for the sporting manner in which they appeared at all carnivals. Cheers were then given for Harrison, who received a great ovation after his win, and for the other Foxton swimmers.
In the men’s 50yds. R. Ball was placed second in his heat, but was iiiot successful in the final, and in the men’s 100yds. handicap J. Hirini scr., was placed second in his heat but he, also, was unsuccessful in the final. Foxton . tied with Y.M;.'C.A. for second place in the Flying Squadron. LIFE SAYING PATROL PRACTICE. A reminder is given of the practice for members of the Foxton Surf and Life Saving Club at the local seaside at 2.30 to-morrow afternoon. A full attendance of members and intending members is requested.
