MANAWATU-OROUA RIVER BOARD.
Tn the absence of Mr. W. S. Carter, Mr. B. G. Gower presided over the monthly meeting of the Manawatu-Oroua River Board at. Palmerston Noi’th on Thursday, Also present were Messrs IT. Burlier, J. E. IC. Harrison, 11. .1- T. Hume, R, J. Law, A. Buchanan and C. H. Speirs. An apology for absence was received from Mr. Carter.
The clerk reported that the ten per cent, penalty on outstanding rates had been imposed in November, but that the sum of £255 was still outstanding. On his suggestion, the unpaid rates were referred to the board’s solicitor for colleetion.-
It was decided to hold over the striking of a rate until the next meeting when the clerk and engineer could bring down estimates for the coming year.
A separate rate of 2/3 per acre for 20 years on all rateable land in the No. 1 special area was struck. In connection with the work to be done in the No. 2 (Koputaroa) area it was decided to get the valui'lion of a tongue of land, the property of Messrs Stevens, Easton and Austin, of Moutoa, which world have to be acquired for carrying out the worth.
