Air. and Airs. Walker, of Lady’s Alile, have removed lo Rongotca. The friends of Air. E. Cannon t, who is at present an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, will he pleased to learn that there is considerable improvement in his condition. Believed to be 105 years of age, Thomas Mitton died at the Old People’s Home at New Plymouth yesterday. He was a. military settler in Taranaki and had been in' the home off and on for 30 years. Rev. and ALs. G. A. Ait ken, of New Brighton, Christchurch, who are returning from a trip to Gisborne will spend the week end in Eoxton when they will renew old acquaintances. Air. and Airs. Aitkcn who were at one time residents of Eoxton, recently celebrated their golden wedding. The Rev. Herman von Rtaveren, Jewish Rabbi passed away at Wellington yesterday, aged 80 years. Deceased was one of Wellington’s oblest, host known and popular citizens. His long period of hospital and social service was unique, and probably constitutes a record, as il extended to over half a century. The death is announced of Lord Esher in his 7Sth year. He was a (‘lose personal friend of Queen Victoria, King Edward and King George. He was an intimate friend of Lolrd Kitchener during the. war and the diary he 'kept in those years is stated to, contain information of the highest historical importance. It has been deposited at the British Afusenm and is not to he opened until 1931,
