GROWTH OF DAIRY BUSINESS.
PRODUCTION IN GENERAL IS HIGH, BUT PRICES LOW.
The (Christmas pay-out by the Levin Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., 'was among the big transactions of the industry in this 1 country, .(says the Chronicle), the amount being approximately £25,000, which is at the rate of 1/5 per lb. of butterfat supplied to the factory in November.
The peak of production at the Levin factory this season Avas six and a-half tons of butter a day, as compared with six tons last year, and the total, quantity manufactured from June Ist to November 30th Avas 630 tons, as compared with 613 tons. The Awahuri Dairy Company, at the end of November, Avas 12 tons ahead of the same period last year, and other factories have had similar experiences.
The Awahuri company .disbursed a. total of £17,000 for November, being 1 payment for butterfat at the rate of 1/4 per lb. The Kairanga company paid 1/4 for butter and 1/5 for cheese. The total payout.is approximately £13,000. ‘ - |
* The folloAving 1 cheese manufacturing companies decided upon 1/6: —MakoAvhai, £1,907; Tokomaru, £1,807; MangaAvhata, £3,178. The Shannon Company, on the basis of 1/5 for butter, paid to its suppliers this month £15,700. The output during November was 120 tons, shoAving a slight increase.
