OBITUARY.

PATRICK iSKELLEN, AGED 73 YEARS.

The- late Mr. Patrick Skellen, ay ho. passed aAvay at the Palmerston Hospital on Saturday -morning, was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mi’s. John Henry ! Skellen and was a. Native of Ire- j land, being horn at' Omagh, County } Tyrone in the year 1856. At the age of nineteen deceased came out to NeAV Zealand Avhcn he took up his residence in the Canterbury district-. In 1889 he removed to Foxton Avhere he has resided ever since, in 1891 marrying the eldest daughter of the late J. Cl AJlen, of Wellington. During his long sojourn in Foxton the late Mr. S'kellen. made many friends and was held in high esteem by all aalio knew him. For many years he had been associated with the Foxton Racing Club, -of AY’hieh he was an enthusiastic member. He leaves a widoAV, four daughters and one grandchild to mourn their loss besides a large circle of friends. The daughters are Mrs. J. Senior (Christchurch), Mrs. Clover (F'eilding), and the Misses A. and H. Skellen, of Foxton. 'The funeral took jfiaee at Foxton yesterday and Avas largely attended. The final rites Avere performed by Rev. Father McDermott and many beautiful wreathes covered the casket. The pall-bearers Avere Messrs F. J. Mantel], G. Ruffed, A. AndrcAV, W... Kirkland, D. Christie, and E. J. Murphy.
