MOTORING ACCIDENTS
Large numbers of minor accidents .with motor ears occurred on Boxing Day and iGhristanas Day. A service car driver repotted six cars off the road in the stretch between Paraparaumu and Foxton on Boxing Day. Another service ear drier passed three damaged vehicles between Palmerston North and Uannevirke. One motorist smashed the- front wheel of his oar when lie tried to pass a service ear in the loose shingle near Whakaronga. Two cars collided head on near the Bulls bridge late on Christmas Eve, the occupants, with the exception of Mr. William Sent, of Dannevirke, who was admitted to the Palmerston’ North Hospital with ail injured shoulder all escaping injury. A terriffiic impact between two motor-cars at the corner of Fitzherbert Avenue and College Street/ Palmerston North, at about 11.30 on Thursday, resulted in a light car turning two complete somersaults before coming to rest on aill four wheels on the footpath. ‘The occupants’, escape can only be described us miraculous, as the two oars met with considerable force, and both were badly damaged, the smaller one being practically wrecked. Traffic was heavy at the corner on account of the race meeting at Awapuni, and the cars met squarey in the middle of the road. The d iver of the heavy five-seater car which struck the other broadside < n, was Air. H. Doyle, of Feilding, :ml Air. Al. L. Smith, of Napier, was at the wheel of the two-seater. Neither drivelr was injured.
