At the Police Station this morning before Mi*. G. Flraser, J.P., a district fanner was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a car in Whyte Street last evening. In evidence Constable Owen stated that last evening at about 8 o'clock defendant was found fast asleep at the wheel of a car in Whyte Street. He was pushed aside and the car driven to the police station where defendant slept until a late houg. He was later allowed to go home. Defendant was a farmer and had met a few friends in town and had a drop too much. He was a first offender. Accused was convicted and fined *£s with costs 3/-. Accused made application for the suppression of his name, which was granted.
