The following are amongst the highways works which were carried out under the Highways Board during the month of October:— Levin to Palmerston 'North, via Shannon. — Horowhenua County, box ton to Shannon: 'Shannon Borough, 15 chains has been widened and metalled.

Sanson-Palmerston North. —Manawatu County: Sanson to Awahuri, a start has been made with the surfacing work, approximately one mile being' completed to date. Kailanga County: Awahuri to Palmerston North, on the paved length, the Whole of the unsurfaced sections have been surfaced during the month, a total of 145 chains.
