W.C.T.U.
ANNUAL AIiEETING.
The annual meeting of the local branch of the W.C.T.U. was held in the Methodist schoolroom yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance. The following officers were elected:—
President, Airs, C. King; vicepresidents, Alesdames Nicholas, Edbondson, Chrystall, J. Ross and Aliss Duncan; secretary, Airs. J. AI. Thomson; treasurer, Airs. Dorset.; White Ribbon agent, Airs. Edmondson; recording secretary and Cradle Roll superintendent, Airs. Young; organist, Mrs. Dorset; refreshment committee,' Alesdames Chrystall, Parkin, Leigh and Aliss Byrnes; entertainment committee, Alesdames 'Dorset, Edmondson, H. Osborne, Ro’ss and Nicholas; Band of Hope superintendent, Airs. J. Ross.
It was reported that during the year seven meetings and one special meeting were held.- Good reports, were received from all departments. In October a very welcome visit was paid from one of our great workers, Aljrs. Peryman, who gave a very inspiring address and urged us to carry on with our work for the good of humanity. Regret was expressed at the resignation of Alesdames Stone (president) and Symcs (treasurer), the former who is leaving the district to reside in Wellington and the latte|r owing to ill-health. Special mention was made of the excellent services rendered by the retiring president and on the motion of Airs. J. Ross votes of thanks and appreciation were carried.
Afternoon tea was dispensed at the conclusion of a very successful meeting.
