PLANS
Everything is now in readiness to proceed with the erection of the Shannon Co-operative Dairy Co.’s neAV factory and tenders arc being called, closing on Saturday, 7th December. Our representative Avas yesterday morning shoAvn the plans of the proposed new building, Avhich when completed Avill prove a very jfine structure. It Avill be built of concrete with a rough-cast finish, Avith AvindoAvs along both sides giving ajfsplendrdly lighted interior. The prneipal dimensions are approximately lOfi feet long hv 52 feet, with walls 76ft. high. The construction is to he of such a nature that anyone standing on the receiving stage can get a elealr vieAv of the Avhole of the interior right through. In other words the cream enters at the front of the building and can he seen passing through the different stages of manufacture until it reaches the 'finished product —that is, the box of butter going out. of the cool store to be shipped overseas. Verandahs are provided over the front and back of the building for protection of cream from the weather and there Avill he a good concrete roadway round the building. The boiler house and coal hunkers are situated just outside the main building, but access is gained by a covered Avav.. A feature of the neAV AA 7 ork will he the system of drainage enabling the floor to be kept free of Avatcr, a great asset. where Avater is freely used.
Machinery, embodying the latest improvements in the industry, will he installed, -which makes for a saving of time and running costs. The building aJIoAVS for extension at any time, should' this be necessary, frat as now designed it will he -able to cope with a 2000-ton output. With the number of ucav dairy- farms coining into existence .in Hi is district, there is every prospect of this amount being reached at a not far distant date. The factory Avill stand back a distance of OA r er fifty yards from Stafford St., and will be situated betAveen the company’s store and the buttermaker’s residence. The time for completion is in the month of May next year, aiuLtlie ivoav factory Avill thus he ready to deal Avith next season’s output. s
