A Nye Ferns match was played on the local gji-een yesterday afternoon, 'when Thomson’s rink staved off the challenging rink by a margin of two points. Thomson’s rink got a had start,, their opponents having accumulated a lead of 12 points (6th head) before they opened their account. However, as the game progressed the holders built up their score, to win by the small maa-gin heforementioned. The rinks were:— Holders: Scadden, Hamer, Walton, Thomson (s) 23; challengers: Mc-Gill, Easton, Heves, Walker (s) 21.
011 Wednesday next the first round of the Triangular Shield contest will ibe played at Levin, when Foxton and Shannon will each send two rinks. Foxton rinks will be as follow:
Hinds, Walker, Woods, Thomson '(*)•
Stevenson, Huntlev, Mattar, Christie (s). -
On Saturday next .Poston will contract a good deal of responsibility, in that they will have to defend the Manson and Barr (Cup against a rink from Eketahuna, and also send a rinjk to ' Feilding to fulfil their challenge for the Dixon Cnp. The Manson and Barr Cup rink will remain as formerly, and the Dixon Clip rink will be: —‘Stevenson, Walton, Walker Woods (s).
