- CR. ROSS’S PLEA FOR PURCELL STREET RESIDENTS.
> )CT- John Ross made a strong appeal to the Council last night for a footpath for Purcell Street, residents, in which he had the backing |of. Cr. C. Rand, who has been nursing this baby , for some years past., “At last meeting,” said Cr. Ross, “we Sanctioned the laying down of a footpath through the Cemetery, and if Purcell Street' residents aren’t- given, a footpath before next winter,. there will be a few. move people in the Cemetery. It’s time we considered the living, not the dead,” he concluded, amidst smiles from his fellow • Councillors. Or. Rand said it, had heen a' long standing promise that Purcell Street residents .would he given a footpath and conditions,there were appalling in winter time. The Mayor said that, the road foreman had’ informed him that Purcell Street footpath was to he the first work carried out after Christmas. “Possibly it may be done sooner,” lie concluded.
