LAND FOR FORESTS

The SC'ominissioner of State Forests (the Hon. W. B. Taverner) stated in the House of Representatives last week that the settingaside of land for afforestation purposes was being- dealt with in a proper and systematic manner. No land was approved for afforestation purposes unless it was deemed to he of no value for any better purpose. A very careful examination was made before lie approved of the setting- aside of land for afforestation purposes. Similarly, land held for State forests deemed to be more siiitable for agricultural and ipastoral uses was released from the control of the Forest Service.

It may be mentioned that there are sevelral thousands of lacres of saint dune country along this coast which could be made available for the pin-pose.
