HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT
The Department of Agriculture fas received the following cablegram, dated 19th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London;—? Hemp.—Manila market firmer early this week on account of light receipts but prices- eased later. “J” grade closing values OetoberDeeember shipments £36 5/-. Stocks in England at 30th September, 12,500 bales against 14,000 bales for same time Inst vear.
Sisal. —Market steady but trade slow. Sellers for fair average quality No. 1, £39 10/-; No. 2/£3B; but buyers 10/- below these prices.
New Zealand: —Little more enquiry, but spinners ideas mucli below New Zealand shippers and mailket very quiet. Nominal comparative values, high points £33 10/- to £34; fair, £3O 10/- to £3l; common, £29 to £29 5/-; tow, 2nd grade, £2l 10/-; 3rd grade, £l3; October - December shipments. Stocks in England at 30th September, 80 tons against 65 tons for same time last year.
