Sister Hilda Petersen’s resignation as matron of the Awapuni Old People’s Home was received by the Hospital Board yesterday with a great deal of regret. In appreciation of excellent services rendered the Home and the care and consideration she has extended to the old folk, she was granted three months’ leave of absence on full pay, the chairman (Mr. J. K. Hornblow) stating that she had performed good and faithful service. Sister Petersen received her early training at the Palmerston North Hospital, joining the staff in 1914. From 1918 she was partly on military duty'but in October, 1922, rejoiced the hospital staff as a sister and later was appointed to the charge of the Old People’s Home, where she has served with distinction ever since. The reason of Miss Petersen’s resignation is due to her approaching marriage.
