FOXTON TENNIS CLUB.

COURTS OFFICIALLY OPENED. Beautiful weather conditions prevailed for the official opening of the Fox ton Tennis Club’s courts on Saturday and there was a large attendance of niembers present. The Mayor (Mr M. E. Pen-eau) performed the ceremony and in doing so c ongratulated the committee on the very line payilion which they had erected by means of worthing “bees” This, he said, would add greatly (o tho comfort of the players and was an excellent asset. He understood the club had no caretaker and here again lie would like to congratulate them on their spirit of cooperation. It appeared that the Tennis (Club comprised a body of energetic wolrkers with a. very fine President in the person of Mr L. C. Bryant. He hoped that they would have a, very successful year, eoneluding his remarks by calling for three cheers for the Club President, which were heartily responded to. Mrs L. C. Bryant and Mr C. Procter then played the first ball, aftejr which the courts were thrown open for play and an enjoyable time spent by all present. During- the afternoon, tea was dispensed by the ladies of the committee, which was served in the pavilion.
