THE LATE DR. FORREST.
HOSPITAL BOARD’S TRIBUTE TO HIS MEMORY.
Standing in silence, members of the Palmerston North (Hospital Board yesterday honoured the memory of the late Dr. G. A. Forrest, who foil- eight years was medical superintendent of the Palmerston North hospital. In moving a motion of sympathy with the relatives, the chairman (Mr. J. K. Hornblow) stated that about eight years ago Dr. Forrest was appointed medical superintendent and served the hospital ’with distinction for a period of sue years. During the whole of that time, no complaints,.came befov the hoard concerning his administration. He carried out his duties with faithfulness and in a manner which won for him the respect and esteem of patients, the honorary and nuirsing staffs, and board officials. The call to service on beJialf of patients was never disregarded, sometimes at great personal sacrifice, yet he never complained. At all times lie sought to promote the peaceful and willing co-operation of all and his conduct exemplified the highest traditions of a noble profession. Upon his resignation as medical superintendent, to enter into private practice, •'he was unanimously recommended and appointed an honorary surgeon, and in this connection, the board is bis debtor. “It may be some consolation to -his widow to know that I have received a number of messages from cx-paticnts, expressing heartfelt sorrow at his death and testifying to his skill and sympathetic nature,” said Mr. Hornblow. “Personally, I pay a tribute to the mem - ory of a Christian gentleman and this institution regrets the loss of a highly efficient and devoted member of the honorary staff. I desire to move ‘that this board places on record its appreciation of the voluntary services rendered to suffering humanity by Dr. Forrest as n member of the honorary staff and tenders its sympathy to the widow and family.’ ”
