BOROUGH COUNCIL
There was a full 'Attendance ot' Councillors at last night’s Borough Council meeting, which was presided over by'the Mayor (Mr. M. E.
Perreau). The Clerk reported that the sum of £35 19s 6d had been raised as a result of the Mayor’s earthquake fund.
On the suggestion of Cr. Ross it was unanimously decided to revert to the Saturday cleaning of Main Street.
Lengthy correspondence was read trom Various sources relative to the Urban Farm Lands Rating Bill, but while it was considered that it would have a vital effect on boroughs such as Foxtail, no action was taken, the correspondence being received. ~
The Tlorowhenua Power Board wrote notifying that the shifting of the street lamps requested by the Council would receive attention this week.
An application was made by Mr. H. Berry for a water service to be laid on to bis section in Union St. Several residents in Norbiton Road also applied for an extension of the Norbiton Road water main.—Held over until estimates of the cost are
prepared. The Association notified that the annual conference will be held in Invercargill commencing on March sth of next year.—Clerk to. prepare any remits to bo submitted t > next meeting.
Cr. Ba rron suggested that a “clean up” week be. held locally before the summer really commenced. —If was decided to go into the matteti*.
