LATE DR. G. A. FORREST.

One of the largest corteges seen in. Palmerston North for some -time was that which followed the mortal remains of the late Dn\ G. A. Forrest to the Kelvin Grove cemetery yesterday afternoon. The Rev. G. T. Brown conducted a short service at' the 'residence, where relatives and‘friends in the medical profession attended. The pallbearers were Drs. Putnam, Peach, Bett, Bransgrove, Stowe and Wilson. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. Brown. • .

Many local bodies were represented at the graveside. Among the mourners were Mr. J. K. Hornblow (Palmerston North' Hospital Board), the Mayor, Mr. A. J. Graham and Mr. J. R. Hardie (Borough Council), Dr. T. L. Paget and Mr. J. W. Huggins (Department of Health), Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P. (A. and P. Association), BrigadierGeneral Whyte, D.S.O. and Captain Lyons, brother officers of the late Dr. Forrest, who served with them overseas during the Great War. The medical profession -was fully represented practically every doctor in Palmerston North and Feilding districts being present to pay a last t ribute. The esteem in which the late Dr. Forrest was held was also manifes- • led by the large number of floral emblems, among them were represented many public bodies ineludingPalmerston. North Division of the British Medical Association, Manawatu Golf Club, office and outdoor staff of the public hospital, Lasswade hospital and staff, house surgeons of the public hospital, Hospital Board, ex-nnembers of . the Mounted Rifles, the honorary and nursing staffs of the public hospital, Ten-race End school, St. Andrew’s Sunday school children and the ladies’ committee; of Flock House and also many private tributes.

The flags were flown at half-mast from the [Palmerston North Borough (Council and from the band rotunda in the Square.
