METHODIST CHURCH.
The Methodist Church held a very successful quarterly meeting on Tuesday evening in the. parsonage. The chairman of the distinct (Rev. F. Copeland, iof Feilding), presided over a large and enthusiastic gathering of officials. The financial position was considered very satisfactory, both circuit and trust. It was defended to hold Foxton church and Sunday school anniversaries during the ensuing qualrtcr and that retiring collections for the orphanage be taken up throughout the circuit at Christmas time.
Reports of Sunday schools were received from Foxton and Shannon, showing a very satisfactory state. An unanimous invitation was extended to Rev. ,J. H. Edmondson to labour in the circuit for a third year'from April Ist, 1930. Mr. J. Chrystall was elected representative! to Synod to be held in Hastings in November, with Mr. J. Swindlehurst, of Shannon, as substitute representative. Messrs Hewett and Cowley were re-elected 'auditors and thanked for their past services. It was resolved to hold the next meeting in Shannon on the 2nd Thursday in January. 'The meeting opened with prayer and closed with the benediction. At the close of the meeting supper was provided.
