THE HIMATANGI TRAGEDY.
DISCO VER Y OF BLOODAXE. A discovery which may have a bearing on\lhe recent Himatangi tragedy wasVade by Mr. Fred. Robinson last 'sSunday week. AH’. Robinson, togetliW' with others, visited the Westlake famv- for the purpose of looking'\over some farm implements, etc., in connection with their disposal by auction by the Pubiic Trustee. While looking over the farm Mr. Robinson discovered an axe a short distance froii/ the site of the whare, the handle "y of which was covered with some siil>~ stance resembling blood. The ax-g was disposed of together with two others at the sale. Mr. Robinson informed our representative that the axe head exactly fitted the holes made in the two kerosene tins found in the whare.
He was not in a position to definitely state that, the handle was covered with blood but a close examination pointed to that fact. Experts would have no difficulty in saving that, lie concluded.
Mr. Robinson -said there was a possibility of the axe having been used to kill some animal, but that also could be determined by experts.
