A vote of sympathy was passed to the -relatives of the late Air. A. Cook, Government representative on the Board. INSPECTOR’S REPORT.

Alir. D. R. Barron inspector, reported as follows: — During the past month I have been engaged as usual in the general inspection of properties in the Board area. The weather during the Imontli has been very favourable towards rabbit destruction and the land has been in good order tor fumigation .work to be carried out. A few late poisoning’s have been completed and these with one .exception have been quite successful'. Several landowners have been written to in regard to non-comple-tion of work and these letters will be followed up with a personal inspection of the property concerned during the coining month. Talken as a whole the' district is in good order at present although, as is usual at the beginning of the breeding season, rabbits are beginning to show up on areas which for some time past have been to a great extent clear of the pest. 'lt is at this time of the year, when through the busy season beginning the work of rabbit destruction is apt to he neglected, that a watchful eye-sho-uld be kept on all areas so that no increase in the breeding of the rabbit pest, can be allowed to take plaice. After a recent Inspection of the Rangitikei river bed ar<}a I have considered it advisable to have a .simultaneous phosphorised pollard poisoning carried out and have written to each owner of property in that area advising them to have this poisoning carried out commencing as near as possible on the 2nd October. This poisoning should have the effect of cleaning up to a great extent any young rabbits and those left aftetr the recent strychnine poisouing. During the conning month T shall he engaged in general inspection work. i
