Newhaven (Conn.), Sept. 5,

University College, read a paper upon the intelligence of the Maori. He stated that a study of the native Maoris’ ‘ intelligence in comparison with that of the whites in no way. supported' the belief in race traits as the main influence Upon culture. He could find nothing to support the theory that there were intrinsic differences between the primitive and civilised mind.
