Miss G. Griffin, of Wellington, is at present on a visit to Foxton, as the guest of Mjr. and Mrs. M. E. Perreau.

• Miss Ena 'Stpckley, the Dominion sprint champion swimmer, left by the Ulimaroa yesterday for Sydney, where she will reside. The friends of Mr. H. Coley will be pleased to learn that he has recovered fromj his recent illness and this morning was aide to resume work.

The induction of. the new Vicar of All Saints’, Palmerston North, Rev. G. Y. Woodward, will take place on Tuesday evening next. The Venerable Archdeacon of Rangitikei will conduct the service.

The members of St. Mark’s Ladies’ Guild, Carterton, recently farewelled their president, Mrs. Raine, who is leaving with the Rev. Raine, he having been appointed to take chairge of the Eastbourne parish. Over 50 members were present. On Mrs. Raine’s arrival she was presented with a posy of primroses and hyacinths made and presented by the secretary, M’s. A. Pink. During an interval Mrs. C. Fairbrother (vice-president of the guild) expressed regret at Mrs. Raine’s departure from their midst, as she had been a most energetic and enthusiastic worker in the interest of the guild and had done a wonderful amount of work during her stay in Carterton. The speaker assured her she would be greatly missed by all. Mrs. Faii’brother then presented Mrs. Raine -with a bowl and cake stand with best wishes for her future success, accompanied by musical honours. Mrs. Raine feelingly replied, thanking the ladies for their sifts and the pleasant afternoon they had provided, assuring them that the guild work had always been a great joy and pleasure to her. Although she was leaving, she would still be very interested in the guild work.
