COMMITTEE MEETING

A committee meeting of the Foxon Horticultural Society was held u Ross's Roous last night, presided >ver by Mr. W. S. Heyes (Prcsient). Also present were Messrs D. ■hristie, W. ,IL Nicholas, Edmondon, T. Hughes, S. H. Poole, Jas.

Ross, R. Hornhlow, W. Nye, Mes • dames J. Martin, ID. R. Ogilvy, C. Edwards, King, Proetelr, E. J. Murphy, Miss B. Gower and the secretary (Mr. E. J. Murphy). A letter was read from Francis

Robinson Esq., accepting the position of Patron to the Society and enclosing a donation of £1 .1/-. — Received with thanks. Accounts amounting to 11/11 were passed foil' payment. The financial statement disclosed

a credit balance of £lB 7/8. It was decided to forward copies of the schedule to bulb growers in Otaki.

It was decided to notify Rongotea growers that prize money would be obtainable at the next show before 5 p.m. The secretary reported that Mrs. F. G. Fairey had donated a cake for competition at the next show. The following were elected judges in connection with the elocutionary section for the forthcoming show: —Messrs W. S. Heyes, S. H. Poole, Mrs. J. Martin and Miss B. Gower. Mrs. IC. Edwards was elected steward for the decorative class and Mrs. R. 0. Hornhlow steward for section D (bulbs). The secretary referred to the fact that in years gone by the Society had made a profit of as much as £6 and lie considered it would be a paying proposition for the Society to bold tea rooms again. Rev. Nicholas said 'that it had been the experience of late that tea rooms were a failure. After a general discussion on the subject it Avas decided that it would not be advisable to bold tea rooms but it was decided to make arrangements to proA'ide refreshments for visiting exhibitors. The folloAving committees Avere elected to carry out arrangements at the hall on shoAV day:—T’o put up the stalls: Messrs D. Christie, W. Nye, W. S. Heyes, E. J. Murphy, S. H. Poole, Nicholas, and Jas. Ross; to clean out the hall: Messrs T. Hughes, J. Ross, N. CressAvell, \Y. 11. Walton, and John Ross.
