TOfWjN HALL. “Red W,ine” starring Conrad Nagel and June Collver has been selected as the leading attraction for the re-opening night of the Town Hall Cabaret which takes place bn Friday. “Red Wine,” while primarily a whimsical yarn of life and heart interest —is relieved of its solemnity by a golden thread of farcical humojr running through the story. The story action consists of a character study of (Charlie Cook (Conrad Nagel), a man of middle age —a pillar of ,the community—yet sad because he has forgotten ho.w to play. Irritated by the jibes of his clubmates, Charlie decides to throw off the yoke of- conventionality and become “one of the boys,” enjoying life to .the fullest. His first step is to rig himself out like a fashion plate, then find the “wine, women and song.” He finds all three, in spite of the fact that he has an incomparably charming wife (June Collyer) at home. But the tinselled life soon loses its appeal. 'Remorse comes to the rescue just in time to save the hero for his wife and 'avert a tragedy. Also comedy and News. Prices 1/- everywhere. Children fid. Undoubtedly the most remarkable scenes taken below the surface of the sea for any motion pietuire are included in the British Dominions Film, “ ‘Q’ Ships,” at the Town jHall on 'Saturday. A special diving apparatus was used to secure the scenes where the German U-boat is trapped in the deep sea nets, and is eventually torpedoed. The film is provided with an electrifying climax when the water bursts into the engine room of the submarine, and the oxygen supplies are cut off. The men are caught like rats in a trap, and, amidst tremendous explosions, the submarine sinks with all hands, never to rise to the surface again. Usual prices.
