“YOU’LL DO!”

AMAZING FEAT OF NOVICE PILOT. Brisbane, August 13. Pjlot Brain, of the Quantas Airways, tolls a thrilling story of a novice pilot doing his first solo flight, who was unable to land. The pupil came down a couple of times, but was unable to stop and rose into the air again each time. Blrain went after him in a small aeroplane, arid attempted to signal to the puipil, who, to his amazement, tied back the controls and at a height of ,a thousand feet climbed to the tail of his machine and made some adjustment. He then returned to the cockpit and landed safely in a distant paddock, as did Brain. When asked what had happened, the pupil calmly explained that something went wrong with the gear preventing the machine remaining ion the ground, and the only course was to remedy the defect in mid-air. “You’ll do,” was Brain’s proud, but laconic reply.
