INFECTIOUS DISEASES.
INCREASE IN PNEUAfONIA CASES. • The cases of infectious disease reported in the Wellington health disti’ict for the week ended noon on Tuesday show a .very substantial increase on the number for the preceding week. scarlet fever, and diphtheria cases are increasing', especially in the Central Wellington area, where the pneumonia cases total 22 (an increase of 12 over the previous week’s total). At least one case of pneumonic influenza, is reported from each area, while tuberculosis also is reported from them. The figures for the previous week arc given, in palrenthesis. Waiiganui-Horo wiienua.: Scarlet, fever, 12 (11); diphtheria, 1 (2); tuberculosis, 1 (2); pneumonic influenza, 2 (1); pneulmonia, 6 (3); puerperal fever, 1 (0); eclampsia, 0 (1); total, 23 (20).
