THEFT OF BANKNOTES.
A FEILDING SENSATION. Feilding, July 6. Bank notes to the total value of £B6O were stolen from a dwelling in Feilding early in this week. The lady of the 'house, who Is elderly, had a, large sum in the Savings Bank, and required part of this money for a transaction. She is said to have gone to the Savings Bank, and had a cheque endorsed ior presentation to the. Bank of New Zealand. The cheque was for £B6O.
The cheque was presented to the Bank of New Zealand in Feilding, and the lady received eight £IOO notes and the balance in paper of shialler denominations. The notes were placed in a bag and' taken home, and the bag was placed in a drawer and left there foil’ the night. Next day when she went to get the money she found it was all gone. It is understood the bag was there and no tiling else in the house had been disturbed.
