DEATH UNDER ANAESTHETIC

UNUSUAL MEDICAL CASE. Halmilton, June 18. At the inquest on the death of Thomas William Atkinson, aged 19, a farm employee, who succumbed under an anaesthetic while undergoing a nasal operation, Dr. A. G. Wladdell said that in his opinion death was due to an enlarged thymus gland, a very unusual condition. There were several theories as to how an abnormal thymus brought death. It was believed that the possessor was unusually susceptible to the action of chemical physical agents, such as an anaesthetic. The shock of the opera - tion also appeared more severe in such cases. Owing to the absence of the operating doctor and anaesthetist, the jnquest (was postponed.
