RUGBY FOOTBALL.
BEBBINGTON (SHIELD GAMES. Mr. J. Casey has received a let - ter from the Danneviikie Rugby Union advising that though they had accepted Saturday, 6th July, as the date for the Bebbington Shield match at Levin, they now find they are unable to go on with the challenge this year. The Bush Union has also written stating that 'Saturday, July 27th, is not acceptable to them for their Bebbington Shield game, and they suggest the game being played on Wednesday, July 31st. The gate takings at Shannon on Saturday for the Mianawatu-Horo-wbenua. Rugby games were £3B 17s. Wairarapa played its first representative game of the present season yesterday at Eketahuna, when it defeated Bush by 30 points to 12 in an exciting but somewhat ragged game.
