Mr. E. Tregonning clerk at the local railway station, left for Te Awalmutu yesterday, to which station he has been transferred.
Mr. W. J. Ivane, Government Audit Inspector, and ihis assistant, Mr. Todd, are at present in Foxton ..on official business. Mr. W. Roach, of the local Bank of New Zealand,staff, underwent an operation for appendicitis at the Palmerston North Hospital last night. He is progressing favouraid v.
Up'. Mark Whitehead, a wellknown settlor of Palmerston North and Woodville, passed away at Palmerston North on Thursday, aged 77 years. He is survived by bis widow and an adopted daughter (Mrs. N. Winiata, of Levin).
The funeral of the late Mr. E. A. W. Osborne toolk place on Thursday afternoon. A short service was held at the home of Mr. Harold Osborne, by the Revs. P. J. Mairs and Edmondson prior to the cortege leaving for Shannon where the interment took plaice. All the' business premises at Shannon were closed during the funeral as a mark of respect to the memory of their late fellow townsman. The casket was covered with beautiful floral tributes. The pall-bearers were: Messrs T. Moynihan, W. KiiMand, F. Rout, G. King, fOlayton and Roach.
