STATE OF PARTIES. The results of the British general election arc as follows: — Total votes Seats won. Conservatives 8,536,835 254 Labour 8,317,025 ’ 287 Liberals 5,220,014 57 Thel liberals only secured one seat for every 91,000 votes recorded for the party’s candidates; the Conservatives one for every 33,000; while Labour secured one for evegy 28,900 votes.
