CHRONIC ASTHMA PATIENT SUICIDES.
Christchurch, Last Night. A verdict of suicide by gas poisoning was returned by the Coroner, Air. Levvy, S.AT., at the inquest into the death of William Malcolm McCleary, aged 47, a boilermaker, who was found this morning in the kitchen at his home, dead from gas poisoning. AfcCleary had been suffering from asthma for 30 years and for the last year, vCry acutely. He had gone to bad early in worse health than usual. On Sunday, his wife rose early and found lie was not in his room. She went to the kitchen and found him lying dead on the floor. He held a gas tube in his hand and his head lying on -a cushion. It was stated in evidence ; McCleary had previously threatened to take his own life, owing to his continued illness.
