FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD
WANTED—A LEVIN REPRESENTATIVE. ■Mention was made by the Levin Town Clerk (Mr. H. L. Jenkins), at llie statutory meeting' of the Levin Borough Council on, Wednesday afternoon, of the fact that no nomination had been received for the position of Borough representative on the Foxton Harbour Board, from which Mr. M. Mortensen has retired. He stated that thei duty would now fail on the Council of appointing a representative. The Mayor (Mr. C. Blenkhorn) referred to the unsatisfactory nature of the position; the Board met alternately in Foxton and Palmerston North, and latterly the representative had not received travelling expenses. His Worship said it was not necessarily a Councillor that had to he appointed, but lie asked if there was any nomination from the Council. No response was forthcoming, and the Mayor remarked that they would have to look around for someone. —(Chronicle. [ln referring the above to the secretary of the Foxton Harbour Board, he stated that members travelling expenses were paid when claims were submitted. He further stated that no claim for expenses had yet been received from the Levin representative. —Ed.H.j.
