Hui Mai 6 v. Wjaikanae 0. THIRDS. Weraroa 11 v. Shannon 4. Tokomaru 7 v. Foxton 3. THE SENIOR,S. The Seniors journeyed to Otaki on Saturday and drew with the home team, the score being 9 all. JUNIOR MATCH. FOXTON (21) v. SHANNON (3). Foxton and Shannon Juniors met: on Easton Park on Saturday last in the second cup match of the season. Foxton ran out easy winners by 21 points to 3. Following the kick-off the yellow backs began to throw the ball about and it could be seen that the reds were in for a busy time defending. The locals were keeping Thompson well supplied with opportunities on (lie- wing and he drew first Blood with a dashing try after about seven minutes play. Huff failed to odd the extra points. ' The reds v, ore making desperate efforts to hold their opponents but the pace was on and Thompson crossed over twice frolm brilliant dashes and Huff goaled from a penalty before half time. Neither of the tries were converted and the half-time score stood—Eoxton 12—Shannon nil.
The second spell opened quietlyand Shannon made great efforts to score having the upper hand for about five minutes. ‘During this peiiod Mason and Holden (Shannon), were associated in some clever work deserving of points but the yellow defence stood. . Mason with a good penalty kick scored Shannon’s only points. This proved to be Shannon’s final effort and from thence onwards Foxton were attacking until the final whistle. The yellow forwards were playing a dashing game, their loose dribbling rushes worrying the Shannon backs continuously. From a determined rush Barber scored and later from a good piece of back play Robinson crossed. The final try cajrne from Smith who with rare determination forced his way through the bunch to bring Foxton’s tally to 21. Time was called with the score Foxton 21 — Shannon 3. Mr. Sands gave satisfaction with the whistle. THE THIRD GRADE GAME. Tokomaru thirds visited Foxton or. Saturday and were successful in defeating the local team by 7 points to 3 after a strenuous game on the racecourse. From a kick by Huff, Bert Coley secured and scored in the corner drawing first blood foil- Foxton in the early part of the game. Huff failed with the kick. M. Sherman drop-kicked a goal for Tokomaru from five yards outside the 25 line and gave the visitor's a one point advantage. Jim Young added another three points for Tokon mini from a free kick and the game ended without any further score. Mr. P. McGregor refereed. During football at Auckland on Saturday, Bunny Pinlayson was ordered off. The All Blaelc was participating in a passing rush which seemed bound to result in a score when the referee inadvertently obstructed. Pinlayson is said to have told him in an undertone to get out of the road. The referee blew bis whistle, halted play and pointed to the line.
