MUNICIPAL ELECTION

TO-MORROW’S POLL, To-morrow the burgesses will be called upon to elect nine Borough 'Councillors, from ten candidates offering, and it is hoped that electors will not jail to discharge their duty and privilege by recording their votes. It is true there is no controversial policy to be decided and that each candidate is worthy of support but that is no excuse for indifference. Of the candidates offering, six are aiofw sitting councillors viz., Crs. Cowley, Lucinsky, Rand, Rangiheuea, John Ross, and R. J. Thompson. There has been no adverse eriticista from' the public in connection with their administration during the past two year’s tynl a continuance of public confidence at to-morrow's poll would be a graceful and deserved tribute of their services. They have discharged their duties with fairness to the borough as a whole and the Council meetings have been conducted with dignity and in a spirit of co-operation. The four new candidates are (Messrs D. R. Barron, A. E. tGtfowe, ,C. A. W. Hunt and Frederick Robinson, each of whom is actuated by the salme ideals of citizenship and of service. They are 'well-known residents and it would be unfair to single out any particular one for special mention. Their return will depend upon the measure of individual effort spent in bringing supporters to the poll. The polling booth will be situated at the Town -Hall and the hours of polling are between 9 a.m. and 7 p.(m. The withdraw! of Mr. M. H. Walker’s nomination is to be regretted, as he has for a long period past served on the Council as a valuable and proficient councillor. We understand, however, that the step he has taken has been necessitated for private and business reasons, and was undertaken at this juncture in preference to a later date, when his retirement would occasion a vacancy on the Council.
