YOUNG WOMAN SHOT.
BULLET WOUND IN BREAST. Auckland, April 29. Florence Horne, aged 19, was admitted to the Auckland hospital this imbruing with a bullet wound under the heart in the left breast. At 1.20 this morning she fell against the door of the residence of Edward Fa’hey, of Bombay, farmer, in a semi-conscious condition. She was clothed in a light frock. Sergeant Cowan, of Pu'kekohe, and Dr. MdWhirter attended to the girl. Search resulted in the discovery of a rifle standing up against a drain near the house. The police have traced the ownership of the weapon. Miss Horne had been living with her sister at Onehunga till a few weeks ago, when she went to stay with friends at Arariinu. She was to have left theta, for a situation last Friday and the last they saw of her Was when she left on Saturday’night to attend a dance at Pekeno. Chief Detective Hammond, and Detectives Sullivan and Nalder left for Bombay early this morning to make inquiries. Inspector Hollis says so far police inquiries indicate no reason to suspect foul play. The girl, in a statement a't the hospital, said the shooting was accidental. No operation was performed and her condition is serious.
