' ' HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The Department of Agriculture haaj received the following cablegram, dated the 13th inst., from.the High Cotmimissioner for New Zealand, London: — “Hemp.—Manilla $ [Demand steadier and market firmer. Value of ‘J’ grade for March-May and AprilJune shipments £3B 5/-. Output fromj Ist January to 31st March: 459,000 bales, against 348,000 for the same period last year. Stocks in Manilla at 31st March:, 213,000 ba'lesj against 148,000 at the same time last year; in England 7,733 against 15,000. Sisal: —Market very quiet and prices a little easier. Nominal value for fair average quantity No. 1 £39 to £39 10/-. No. 2 £37 to £37 10/ - for April-June shipment. Tow: —Market easier. Sales reported of No. 1 afloat at £2B. Value of No. 2 £26 spot and afloat New Zealand market: Trade taking no interest. Nominal comparative values unchanged.”
