TOW HALL. When two tried and proven screen comedians and a first-class comedy director get together in the making of a motion picture, the results are bound to be gratifying. This idea is exemplified in the case of Fox Films “Chicken a La King,” made by Henry Lehrman, noted ■ eeinedy dirertor, with Ford Sterling and Arthur Stone in the comedy leads. Lehrman spent many weeks in preparation, and .with the aid of Jimmy Starr, comedy constructor, and the two comedians, has turned out a feature comedy in seven reels which is said to be a hilarious riot of fun and laughter. The picture reveals the back stage life of a burlesque girl and the ways by which she fills her coffers atrthe expense of ,an old fashioned business m!an who has gone on a rampage. Considerable interest has centered on the forthcoming screening of the big British/' production, “Roses of Picai'dy,” the the Town Hall on Saturday next, based on li. H. Mottratm’s famous novel, “The Spanish Farm,” and the hitherto unpublished .story, “69-94,” is generally regarded as one of the most remarkable War books yet written. Technically, the work throughout the whole production has been handled in a masterly manner. The episodes of the actual fighting in the film—the night attack with creeping barrage—'the big German Push of 1918, when Earl Haig sent forth his famous “backs to the wall” message to the British troops —are high lights of this big British production. The film has one of the most impressive finales yet seen in the motion pictures.
