BAY OF ISLANDS BY-ELECTION.
MR. RUSHWORTH RETURNED. By a majority of 489 votes Mr H. M. Rushworth (Country Party) defeated Mr A. Bell (Independent Reform) for the Bay of Islands seat in Parliament aJt the by-election yesterday. 'The .voting .was as follows: — H. M. Rushworth 4209 A.' Bell 3720 Majority for Rushworth 489 There are approximately 356 absent votes and postal votes to be added which cannot effect the result.
