METHODIST CHURCH.
The quarterly meeting was held last evening in the Parsonage when a fair mimlber of officials were present. Rev. J. H. Ed'mondson occupied the chair. Mr J. Chrystall (Circuit Steward) presented the quarterly balance-sheet which was considered most satisfactory. Mr Chrystall then gave a resume of the year’s finance which showed a circuit incojme of over £4OO. A large debit balance on the Ist April, 1928, had been wiped out by the 31st March, 1929, and a small credit balance whs ,noiw in hand. A hearty vote of thanks ,was passed to the Ladies’ Guilds of Poxton and Shannon for their untiring efforts and willing service on behalf of the 'church. A most satisfactory report was received on behalf of the Sunday school and the thanks of the meeting- were tendered to Mi- and Mrs A. G. Huntley and staff for their patient labour and self-sacri-ficing' devotion on behalf of the youth of the church. It was resolved to make the annual appeal on behalf of Foreign .Missions during the ensuing quarter. The president of the conferenle (Rev. J. Goldie, of Solomon Islands) is to visit Foxton on April 26th and will be accompanied by ■Nathan Kera, a Solomon Island native, who will toll the thrilling story of life and missionary work among the people of Ihe Solomons. Shannon Church anniversary is to be held on the first Sunday in May, also the Shannon Sunday school anniversary later in the month. At the close of the meeting refreshments were provided. On the motion of Mr Chrystall a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Edmondson for her hospitality.
