UNUSUAL ASSAULTS.
ON GIRLS RIDING BICYCLES. 'Christchurch, April 10. Declaring that she had been chased by a man on a bicycle and had been pulled fro-m her bicycle by the neck of her dress, a young girl was picked .up at the corner of Brougham S't. and Antigua St., Sydenham, in an hysterical, condition shortly after 10 o’clock last night. She had s'ereamed and the man had ridden off.
A case having somewhat similar features, though the police have not yet completed their inquiries, occur - red earlier in the evening, when a young woman about eighteen years of age, fall and strongly built, was found lying at the corner of Brougham St. shortly before 7 o’clock. She was riding ,a. bicycle when she was suddenly he'ard to scream and then fed! to the road. The young .woman ,\Vas picked up in an hysterical condition 'andlhas so far been unable to give :an account of herself. After being examined by a doctor, she was removed to the Chriscthurch Hospital. The girl had nothing in her possession by which to identify her.
The police are investigating the cases and will not disclose the names of either girl.
