PLUNKET CARNIVAL NOTES

A reminder is given of the social and dance to be held in the Masonic Hall this evening, under the auspices of the Citizens’ candidate committee. A good time is assured those attending. The. Citizens’, Country and Sports Committees announce forthcoming fixtures in their advertising space in this'i issue. The three committees are now getting a move on and special attractions are being 'arranged. Mr. iD. R. Barron has been appointed chairman and Mr. Couch secretary of the Sports Committee. The Sports Committee will hold a dance in the Masonic Hall on Saturday. GARDEN PARTY. A very successful garden party was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Raikes, Oroua Downs, yesterday afternoon in aid of the Sports Baby. As a result over £5 : was raised. Despite threatening weather the day cleared up and a most enjoyable time was spent. Mesdames Hunter, Gordon and Gibb had charge of the afternoon tea while Mesdames Nichols and Funnell conducted a produce stall and Mesdames ,F. C. Raikes and Nieol and Messrs Hansen, and Gibb organised various competitions. A fishing competition, Uncle Sam, nail driving, wood sawing, etc. created a good deal of interest.
